His real name is Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Mark Twain is his pen name. He was born in Florida, 1835. He wrote many novels and short stories. His famous series "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" is about a young boy growing up along the Mississippi River. It was published in 1876. Its sequel was named "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and published in 1884. Huckleberry Finn is a friend of Tom Sawyer and he appeared in the first book also.
Mark Twain also wrote excellent short sories. For his great works, he is also known as "The father of American literature".
